Here it is Gorgeous,
My third and final “War of the Roses” look. How did I come to DIY-ing a T-shirt to go along with a feather skirt? Where to begin…
As I told you in my Look #1 blog post, I gathered all the pink clothing from my closet with the goal of putting together three looks for the biggest summer party in Pittsburgh, our annual “Party at the Pier” fundraiser. And this year’s theme is the “War of the Roses.”
My last (and totes my favorite) outfit is based around this amazing feathered mini skirt that instantly makes any outfit more fun.
I paired it with a Guns ‘N Roses tank, but couldn’t resist the opportunity for some word play. So, with the help of yellow duct tape and a sharpie, I customized my T-shirt for this event (from Guns ‘N Roses to War ‘N Roses). And I somehow managed not to ruin it.
My base tee was a little long — it would have covered my fun skirt completely if left unchanged. To fit it to my body, I knotted the back and tucked it in, making it look like a crop top. A clever hack for any T-shirt and skirt combo.
Since the evening event is taking place outdoors, I thought a little sparkle would be just right. Plus, the nights are starting to get kind of chilly here in Pittsburgh, so a kimono would keep me warm.
But a sequined kimono was still not quite enough. I craved a little more shine. You know how it goes, Gorgeous, the need for bling just takes over every now and then. So I cranked up the shine dial with a glittering, crossbody minaudière, and it worked!
To finish off the look with some edginess, I added only one circular earring, a chain-attached double ring, and a pair of platform sandals with golden chain detail.
Voila, I am ready to win a war or two, girlfriend.
Surely you already know, Gorgeous, that hair and makeup make all the difference in a themed party look. Without those finishing touches, it’s just a bad costume; it won’t work. I bet you know how to pull it off. All you need to do is to follow your nature (and do a little research).
If you do have a theme party styling question, let me know in the comment section down below. I’ll be sure to answer!
Enjoy your day and I hope to see you at the Party on the Pier!
XOXO,
Anna
