Like you, my gorgeous readers, I always wanted to have pearl-white, celebrity teeth.

As some of you may have, I’ve tried different products ranging from a fancy (and expensive) blue light machine to mass market, over-the-counter teeth whiteners to late-night TV infomercial gimmicks.

Some didn’t whiten my teeth at all. In fact, most of my teeth whitening attempts ended up hurting so badly that I couldn’t sleep, eat, drink, or breathe comfortably. I even tried a homemade “charcoal teeth whitening.” Let me just say, you really don’t want to try that one at home.

After a while, I stopped trying, afraid of the pain. 

I concluded that no teeth whitener would work for my very sensitive teeth, and I thought I’d never try again. So, you can understand my skepticism when I was asked to consider Smile Brilliant. Frankly, I didn’t think it was actually going to work. But I gave it a chance. It had been a while since my last attempt to whiten teeth failed. 

Smile Brilliant came in a stylish blue and white box with detailed instructions. I was supposed to make teeth impressions at home and send them to the Smile Brilliant Lab in the envelope that came with the package. No need to see a dentist, the custom trays would just arrive in the mail!

The impression-making process seemed a little complicated at first. I had to re-read the instructions, but once I did so more carefully, it was easy to follow all the necessary steps.

Since I have a few invisible cracks in my tooth enamel — and given my previous painful experiences — I proceeded with caution. Starting with 30 minutes a day and gradually increasing to two hours a day, I wore the trays for three straight weeks.

By the end of the third week, I didn’t notice a big difference and was really disappointed. Although Smile Brilliant didn’t hurt my teeth, frankly, I couldn’t understand why didn’t have snow white teeth already. 

As it turns out, this was not the end of my smile-whitening adventure. I got in touch with Smile Brilliant, and they explained that it takes each individual a varying amount of time to whiten teeth according to his or her specific shade of white. This made sense; of course everyone’s natural enamel color is different. I was advised to not be discouraged and to give it a little longer. So, I continued to use Smile Brilliant for two more weeks.

To be fair, a representative from Smile Brilliant mentioned that one of the most important details about teeth whitening is the consistency of effort. The commitment. Slacking, my gorgeous friends, seemed to be the arch enemy of uncomplicated teeth whitening.  Well, those two extra weeks really did the trick for me.
